Getting suspicious over changing the hand holding the telephone is pretty weird, I actually do that quite often.
Though I must admit that I was more suspicous of the maid than the wife, though not nearly enough to call her the culprit, evidence was the problem either way.

I might be imagining this but... did mouri actually figure it out as well? They were mentioning "her" and "phone" as well during their conversation with the inspector. I just watched this one once but i couldve sworn mouri was unto something here..

they were close, but i think they were going off track... i believe those two were thinking it was the maid. according to everything they knew, the wife had a solid alibi on the phone in the hallway. gramma couldn't make it to the bathroom fast enough, she's old. ;) gotta love subtle ageism in that one ;) the son was in Ran's arm-lock the whole blackout. and of course Mouri-san is almost never a suspect in any case he shows up at. almost never. ;) so it had to be the maid according to their knowledge. they didn't know about the cup the maid hid in her room. they thought that 'cup hiding time' was the maid offing the husband.

Lmao what "ageism?" She's old af, she can't even move around that well and can only do so at a snail's pace, hence it disqualifies her from being the culprit.

This episode is so hard to understand. First breakout, second breakout, the maid, they have their own stories

First Blackout is for the culprit to go near the victim. Second Blackout will cause the electrocution as the culprit managed to rinse the extension cord on bathtub and lastly the maid with her weak heart, clumsy and anxious behavior will likely blame herself because she is the one turn on those two breakers in which the 2nd breaker cause the victim to be electrocuted that's why trapping the suspect in her own alone is the only way to avoid the maid blaming herself for being used for the crime.

Just like in an older episode, a telephone gets that little electricity it needs from the telephone wire. The base of the cordless phone must have had a battery, which is rare but not impossible.

shinichi deserves to be teased and made jealous because ran deserves better than what he's making her go through, and for the record, he shouldn't be feeling jealous AT ALL when he been flirting with haibara and even got kissed by ayumi so... ??? i mean obviously back then in the 90s being monogamous as a man was very normalized, kogorou been flirting with countless women in every possible occasion but the second ran would be suspected to see someone or have interest in a guy, they would both (kogorou & shinichi) act possessive of hers and be framed as doing something criminal lmao. women were not even allowed to back then & would be called a wh**e, disgusting, b**ch...etc misogyny at its finest.

he doesn't flirt with haibara, and he can't control what ayumi did.

he enjoys when haibara tease him so it counts as flirting he could've told her he's not open to that or something, so not saying anything = not minding = being open to the occasion if it presents itself and that kinda counts as cheating because ran doesn't do this sh*t.
